Chag HaUrim during which candles are lit each evening for 8 days to commemorate Maccabean victory over Greek occupiers of Judea in 165 B.C and the miracle of the cruse of oil which although was only one vial left undefiled and with seal of the High Priest still intact and sufficient for one days lighting of the Temple Menorah, but miraculously its oil lasted for eight days' lighting. These eight days were designated for giving thanks and praise to G-d at the rededication of the Temple.
Meaning: "grace, gracious, merciful".
